– Through Orthopaedics, Chiropractic or Dorn Treatment
The spine is the central organ of our body – not only because it keeps the body upright, but also because of its indirect influence on all organs. The organs of our body are connected to the brain and provide information about their condition and activity. From the brain they get appropriate impulses, so that our body can function harmoniously and be healthy. The organs react in a specific way to the brain impulses. The information from and to the brain passes over the nerves that flow from the head through the spine. They emerge from the spinal column at the appropriate height, in order to move from there to the organ concerned.
Often, there is a problem at this exit point of the spine. If the vertebral bodies are turned around on their level either left or right, the nerves get under pressure and this can lead to an irritation of the nerve tracts. Consequently, the information starting from the brain distorts the organ or the musculature or does not even reach it. This causes pain, tension or various other symptoms.
“It’s just a vertebra and it’s not 100% correct,” patients sometimes hear from a doctor. The cause seems small, but even one to two millimeters of rotation of the vertebra can produce distinct and diverse clinical pictures!
In the following, we would like to present an – incomplete – selection of possible symptoms due to wrongly positioned vertebrae. Such complaints can usually be remedied with a few therapy sessions.
- various types of headaches, including migraine,
- visual disturbances,
- sudden hearing loss,
- deafness of the tongue or cheek,
- pain in the jaw area,
- swallowing difficulty,
- tension of the neck and the shoulder girdle, and
- pain in the shoulder joint.
The so-called calculus shoulder and almost all types of pain in the arms and / or elbows, flickering nerve pain and weakness in the hands and fingers are also included, if there is no rheumatic or other underlying disease.
It is possible to eliminate cardiac arrhythmias (if they are not organic, but spinal column-related), breathing difficulties, then the classic: “I have back pain”, but also pain in the thigh muscles, pain and pulling in the groin, in the hip area, in the knees and feet.
Sometimes, vertebrae therapy can even be helpful when it comes to constipation or cross-legged potency disorders. Frequently, heel spur problems, tensions in the Achilles tendon, pain in the sole of the foot and cramps in the extremities can be helped quickly. These symptoms are almost always associated with an absent pelvis and sacrum, as well as the resulting deformities of the lumbar vertebrae.
On the basis of this list, it can be seen that the possibility of spine correction should be given in every allopathic and every naturopathic practice. It is fundamental and can – through time – help prevent multiple diseases. It is logical that in a person who has gone through life for twenty or thrity years on legs of different length, serious damage to the joints had been initiated long ago.
Many of the hip and knee prostheses could be avoided if the skeleton was corrected early, that is straightened out. Years of painful and often distressing pain could be avoided. The reorganization of the spine should be prescribed compulsory on an annual basis by the health insurance, similar to the cancer prevention. You could save many people tremendous suffering! We do not want to talk about the enormous savings to the health insurance companies here.
Who does not know one or more persons who suffer from back or joint problems? In our modern age such complaints have become a widespread disease. Most people stricken by pain go to the orthopedist. Orthopedics is the scientifically recognized method for this diseases. Therefore, the treatment costs are covered by the health insurance.
Today, it is normal to first speak to the orthopedist for back, shoulder, hip or knee pain. Often after a long wait, during the treatment the patient is given a series of injections for the pain, followed by an acupuncture series; often, the patient is advised to exercise after the heat treatments, and thus he is treated medically, surgically, or physiotherapeutically. Often, it does not stay with just one of these therapy applications, but several options are performed.
Defective positions of the intestinal sacrum, the pelvis and / or the vertebral bodies are observed only in comparatively rare cases. The success rate of chronically ill patients in terms of pain relief after six months of orthopedic treatment is described by Dr. Markus Hansen in one of his earlier articles with only 27, 6 percent. It costs the patient a lot of time, a lot of nerve power, and he suffers a long time. Some even lose their jobs during this lengthy process. Or he will be referred to, which also happens, a simulant.
A correction of the pelvis as well as the vertebral bodies is rarely offered and carried out precisely by physicians. In conventional medicine, the method of chiropractic is controversial because it is assumed that the vertebral edges wear out or it could even lead to accidents. Some doctors warn against this treatment, others master this somewhat complicated method and then execute it successfully. Those who does not work with it daily, rarely have good results. The results show the practice.
Chiropractic treatment is an alternative for patients with vertebral and joint problems. It has been known for many decades. In Germany it was introduced made famous in the sixties by Dr. Paul Ackermann, who in his early years also suffered from spinal complaints.
For decades, the chiropractic method was the most effective and fastest way to correct the spine and quickly get rid of backache or joint problems without many medications. In chiropractic, the pelvis and vertebrae are checked for correctness and, if necessary, restored to a healthy condition by correcting the deficiencies. For treatment, the patient’s body is rotated in the pelvic or cervical region to the maximum point. This is followed by another rotation through the therapist and a pressure pulse, which brings the pelvis with a clearly audible snap or crack again to its normal position. Often, the stinging nerve pain for the time being is gone. The therapy session should be repeated, as the muscles must first get used to the new healthy state. The same applies to the Dorn treatment. Especially after driveways and other accidents, the muscles can quite persistently prove their memory effect.
Compared to the Dorn method, the type of Chiro treatment is quite rough. It is quite complicated for the one who does not work with it daily. The use of chiropractic should be exercised exclusively by well-trained professionals. Many patients are afraid of the crackling sound when the vertebrae return to their correct position. This is especially true for the treatment of the cervical spine. Quite different is the Dorn therapy: here, nothing snaps or crackles. In this treatment, the vertebrae glide gently and silently back to their correct and healthy position.
Dorn’s spine and joint therapy is gentle, effective and often misjudged. The developer of this easy implemented form of therapy – compared to chiropractic – was called Dieter Dorn. Through his work as a farmer and sawmill owner, he was also a candidate of frequent and protracted back pain. In the village he had heard of an old farmer’s wife who treated her cows in a special way when they had problems running and standing. Dieter Dorn was treated by her and was stunned by the result. He made an appointment with her to learn her method so that her knowledge would not be lost. But when he arrived at the appointed time, the old lady was already dead.
The fact that Dieter Dorn possessed intuition and had flair for this type of treatment is shown by the result of his research work, which began at that time. It is said that after the vain visit to the farmer’s wife, he came home and immediately through memory commenced the treatment of his wife. She had pain in the cervical spine. Brave, but that’s how new things can come!
Dorn first treated his wife in the kitchen, later he began to treat his employees and soon the people from the village came to him. Until the end, he always treated people seeking help in his kitchen. Dr. Hansen, the orthopedist from Bremen, heard of these activities. He sent specialist literature to Dieter Dorn and organized the first Dorn seminars. Since then, Dorn therapy has become widespread. The orthopedist changed his classic-conventional medical treatment in practice to the Dorn method and began to work as the first German doctor according to Dorn. His son, also an orthopedic surgeon, changed his practice after a while to the new treatment method and since then has been very satisfied with the success of his orthopedic work as, above all, only a fraction of his previously needed medication was to be prescribed and injected. Basically, this form of treatment, when performed correctly and with intuitive finger pressure, has an immediate success rate of about 98 percent! (Statement by Dr. Markus Hansen, which we can only confirm) A result that every traditionally working orthopedist dreams of. However, one must not forget that in many cases, the self-paying patient consciously deals with his health. The Dorn treatment is not accepted by the legal health insurance companies. Only private and additional funds are ready to remunerate them. The special feature of the Dorn therapy: the therapist diagnoses the patient by starting with comparing the leg’s lengths, then working up to the head. Leg lengths, cross-ilium, pelvis and spine – this is the progress. Detected malpositions will be corrected immediately.
Different length of legs almost always indicate that one side of the pelvis is tilted dorsally (towards the buttocks). In exceptional cases, both sides of the pelvis may also be tilted, of which one side is more affected than the other.
Due to the angle between the iliac and iliac joints, the length of a leg shifts in the case of a pelvic obliquity. Uneven long legs are not normal, as sometimes can be heard! Except for very rare exceptions, we have all got two equally long legs.
After checking the leg lengths, the therapist uses strong thumb pressure to check if the iliac bone is correct. For the therapist, the Dorn therapy is exhausting. But the reward for this activity is that over time, he gets something like “seeing hands,” meaning that he develops an unerring sense of the malfunction of a twisted pelvis or vertebra. A vertebra can be rotated or tilted on its plane. The therapist’s diagnostic tools are his hands and eyes, with the delicate touch in the hands being the more important. (There are also blind Dorn therapists who do a very good job.) Any skeletal malformations that the practitioner detects can be corrected immediately. The sacrum, pelvis, lumbar and thoracic spine are examined and treated while the patient is standing. The patient sits in cervical diagnosis and correction.
If one side of the pelvis or the crotch of the ilium is tilted, this is brought back into the correct position by repeated pressure impulses of approx. 10 to 12 kg with the practitioner’s attached, closed fist.
It can be thought that a person with seemingly different legs can not really stand straight. The differences can be between 0.5 and 2.5 cm. With this leg length difference, he would actually always tip over to one side or the other. But the body prevents this by automatically straightening up. This, in turn, causes some vertebrae to twist, sometimes even the entire spine up to the cervical vertebrae. That’s a cause of scoliosis. The spine then appears as a slightly or more strongly bent S. In slender, tall women scoliosis is much more common than in men. For the chiropractor or the Dorn therapist, it is generally not very difficult to straighten the spine again.
An example: in our practice there was the case of a particularly severe spinal disease. The patient received chiropractic care at short intervals for nine years. According to the patient’s own words, her life became worth living again during this time. After another three years with the Dorn treatment, she had grown about 2.5 cm and the treatment intervals could be extended significantly. In this patient, the spine could not be set up correctly. That means she’ll have to stay in treatment all her life. But she is consoling herself with the fact that she had been prophesied from a medical point of view during her childhood, that she would be in a wheelchair when she would be 20 years old. She is now over 40 years old and can even work again.
Low back pain is most common, followed by pain and severe tension in the shoulder girdle and neck area. They are caused by misalignments in the cervical region C4-C7 and TH1, the first thoracic vertebra.
An incorrect posture of these five vertebral bodies is responsible for pain, lameness or numbness in the arms and elbows, poor arm strength, weakness, pain and swelling in the hands, provided that there is no rheumatic disease. Powerlessness and lightning pain in the thumb and the so-called snapping finger also belong to the sphere of influence of these five vertebrae, as are some cases of calculus shoulder.
It may be that the MRI or x-ray has limescale deposits on the shoulder. However, we have found that in general, three to five cervical spine treatments are sufficient to relieve some of these patients of pain and restore mobility. There may be cardiac arrhythmia and high blood pressure if the second thoracic vertebra is rotated to the left. The right-rotation of the same vertebral body only causes tension in the upper back.
The upper thoracic vertebrae have a special position in relation to the ribcage and the heart. In the case of a wrongly positioned C7, the prominent seventh cervical vertebra, as well as the thoracic vertebrae TH1 to about TH4, occasionally a pressure in the heart and chest area is observed. It happens that, due to this constellation, patients have pain similar to that of angina pectoris. However, they are less strong than those of a real seizure. The true angina pectoris attack is due to a lack of oxygen in the heart because of constricted coronary arteries. Mostly, patients with pseudo-pectoris reasonably go to the hospital first. However, there is nothing to be found in the examination if the spine is the cause of the pain. Sometimes the cardiologist suspects that the pain is caused by a nerve irritation to the spine.
In such cases, the heart is healthy and the irritation is caused by slightly rotated vertebrae that press the nerves flowing to the heart. From a medical point of view, the meaning of a twisted vertebra by one or two millimeters is usually not considered sufficiently significant. Daily practice shows that these cases can be helped very quickly.
Similar dramatic effects can also occur with strong and prolonged lumbar spine rotations: people with dorsiflexia are unable to unroll their foot while walking. The front part of the foot is paralyzed and powerless. As a result, he falls down while putting forward first. The causes are usually a sacrum-pelvic defect and rotated vertebrae in the lumbar region C3 to C5. After multiple workups and providing homeopathy (generally Staphisagria C200 helps), it takes an average of three to five weeks for the nerves of the foot to “wake up” and relay information from the brain to the foot.
But the same mistakes can have completely different effects on other people: a driver, 56 years old, had such a swollen foot that he could not fit into any shoe and therefore could not get into his truck. Treading was very painful. He had gone through all the medical institutions with his problem. No one could give advice to him in the hospital. Despite his (but actually young) age, he already had to retire. He still wanted to work. With the aid of Dorn therapy, his pelvis and the sacrum were set up correctly and various vertebral deformities corrected as well. Three days after the first treatment, his foot was about halfway swollen and after only three treatments, he did fit into his shoe again. He was reinstated by his old company and has since then worked at his former place. The medical examination of the retirement office did not want to believe that his recovery came about by treatment with the Dorn therapy.
I write these lines to encourage: courage to work with the really effective and fast-acting Dorn method. It seems so simple and yet it is very profound. It is wonderful to be able to help the sometimes desperate patient quickly with this low-pain method. Many patients had undergone several therapies without success and many had even been hospitalized without really being helped.
Pain patients are extremely grateful! The practitioner should never be proud of his successes, which now and then look like little miracles. He should always be aware that the power of healing, the ideas of doing it one way or another, or giving that and not that homeopathy, comes “from higher circles”. Just being thankful for this great opportunity to help other people is enough. Modesty is necessary so that no mistakes are made because of pride. This is a challenge for every therapist. Pride could quickly become a major obstacle to the caring relationship with the patient. Believing yourself to be better than others can eventually lead to serious mistakes. The therapeutic activity needs the utmost sense of responsibility coupled with modesty, because all the beauty and enjoyment of work would be lost through arrogance. The therapist must never forget that the healing energy that flows through him does not come from him, but that he only mediates it. He serves it only as a channel.
A final example of successful work on the spine at the end: a housewife and cleaning lady had to stoop constantly in the household and often kneel down to keep her own and the house of customers to their satisfaction. For years, she had back and knee pain, which became unbearable with the time, so that now an appointment for a knee surgery was necessary. Ten days before her surgery, the patient came to our practice for the first time. The sacrum, pelvis and spine were carefully examined at the first appointment and the meridians were tested. In case of knee pain, one should not forget to check the functionality of the three meridians, which run over the knee in front or sideways. On the front of the kneecap is the stomach meridian, laterally on the outside the bile meridian and on the inside of the knee the spleen meridian. We have been working for twenty-five years with the Kinesiology Muscle Test Method and have had best experiences. In this patient, two meridians tested weak. They were flooded and stabilized with the help of an orgone emitter. The pelvic and sacral deformities as well as the malposition of the lumbar spine could be corrected. The treatment was performed three times, making the surgery unneccessary, for more than ten years.
Successes of this kind are not uncommon in the Dorn method. As described above, the success rate of complaint recovery after the first treatment is unusually high, at 98 percent. Only 2 percent of patients need advanced treatment, tells Dr. Markus Hansen in the Dorn Forum no. 5, page 12.
In our practice, about 95 percent of the patients could be symptom-free through the Dorn therapy. And that with an average of three to five treatments! Only rarely more treatments are needed.
If this method does not produce the desired results, the therapist has not yet found the right finger pressure for the diagnostic and correction work. Although her name is ‘gentle vertebrate therapy’, one should not work gently stroking. The gliding back of the vertebrae is gentle. The way the therapist works should not be too gentle. Again and again patients told us: “Oh, spine therapy, I know that does not help”. After the treatment, many asked if we had actually taken Dorn, because previous spine treatments had been perceived as unsuccessful pettings.
From time to time, other remedies must contribute to the success: working with homeopathy or a device for the meridian flow to stabilize an ’empty’ meridian can be very helpful. Little known and today rather an unfashionable supplement is cupping after Baunscheidt. It is very effective. To have better blood circulation the back muscles and promote their relaxation, a needle roller is gently and carefully rolled over. The fine stitches slightly open the upper skin layer without leaving any blood. So the skin-irritating Baunscheidt liquid, which is applied afterwards, can work well. The resulting heat lasts for one to two, sometimes even three days. It is also helpful to put the patient in front of a heat lamp for a few minutes before the treatment to relax the muscles. Furthermore, it makes sense to learn the kinesiological test method. Through them, the therapist immediately receives diagnostic information with which he can work. The beauty of the test method is that the patient immediately feels what he or she does well, what his body tolerates or does not tolerate.
The Breuss method, which is often mentioned in connection with spine therapy, is an extremely relaxing type of spinal massage. While in classical medicine it is assumed that the vertebral bodies wear out, one speaks in naturopathy of the fact that the vertebral bodies dry out. (R. Breuss, Krebs, Leukemia p.92) By gently rubbing St. John’s wort red oil – steeped with olive oil – into the spine, they seem to regenerate a little. The red oil ingredient hypericin has a soothing and calming effect on the nerves. To describe the therapy here in detail would go beyond the scope.
With the Dorn method we have been given a good instrument to help many people quickly and safely, provided that the possibility of osteoporosis or the radiograph after an accident is included. It is up to the therapist to make something good out of it, and maybe sometimes to do ‘little miracles’. It is important to never let this efficient method become a routine. Every human being is different, every human being reacts differently, every case is different and so it remains always exciting.
At a time when medical devices are becoming more prevalent for treatments, one thing must never be forgotten: that the healing energy that a caring therapist transmits to his patient during his or her activity cannot be replaced by any device in the world. The positive attitude of the practitioner to the patient and the trust of the patient to the practitioner have a great share in the healing.
