Naturopathic treatment by Father Sebastian Kneipp addresses the whole person with body, mind and soul. It is based on five pillars: water applications, exercise, diet, medicinal plants, and order of life. To an order of life belongs the joy of life. Father Sebastian Kneipp observed: “… only when one knew the state of their soul and brought order there, handling of physical suffering became better. The patients experienced more peace and satisfaction, in short, they felt better…”
Joy is the basis
for health, vitality, balance.
It is the essence of life itself.
There is a saying that in ancient India existed a community of doctors who named themselves the “creators of joy”. They believed that the patient needs an environment filled with joy to be successfully healed. They had understood the healing properties of joy which attract the best natural and supernatural vibrations. By this method, the patient’s condition improved and his recovery was progressed successfully. They observed that this remedy had – in addition to the relaxing physical effect – a subtly magnetizing effect in the course of the treatment, and that it cooperated with the best efforts of the patient. Quality of the vibrations contributes to physical healing. One can observe that a patient trusts more easily in the doctor when the doctor speaks with joy and appreciation.
Even the famous doctor Paracelsus believed that happiness is contagious and the best way to raise the patient´s missing courage of life. In addition to administering medicines he told his patients delicious stories by which he spread humorous mood.
“What belongs to the joy of life?
Not only pleasure
but everything fine, which beautifies life and gives it value. ”
Dr. med. Albert Schweitzer
The consciousness-teacher Gerd B. Ziegler explains: “In fact, most people receive the impulses for physical growth and development predominantly from negative, painful aspects of life. The old ways of suffering can only be overcome if we develop a way of life that releases permanently more energy than through suffering. This is possible in moments in which the illusive veil of separation and duality is torn apart positioning ourselves directly in unity with all. In the light of this unity we are liberated from fear, tension and worry. Boundaries dissolve, and with them all problems we thought of being insurmountable, disappear. If a person has even once experienced this consciously, his life gets a new direction. It is the birthright of every human being to live permanently in this liberated state of being.” 1
What would happen if we as an entire society would learn to replace the term “problem“ with “chance“, no matter if we knew each other, no matter if we were connected as friends or relatives
Those who tried it have experienced gradually (one does not always succeed on the first step!) the law of resonance. Namely, with the new setting, energies will be released that were held magnetically connected to “the problem“. Enormous energies are released according to the law of resonance, which can be incorporated in incredibly creative solutions automatically. The very basic setting “I think solution-oriented” opens the doors of our heart for more beauty and joy in everyday life as happiness is what we all really want.
Our enjoyment of life is influenced by a variety of aspects. For example, the national system of values is based on the gross domestic product (GDP). Robert F. Kennedy stated:
“Yet the gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education, or the joy of their play. It does not include the beauty of our poetry or the strength of our marriages; the intelligence of our public debate or the integrity of our public officials. It measures neither our wit nor our courage; neither our wisdom nor our learning; neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country; it measures everything, in short, except that which makes life worthwhile.” 2
There is one nation on the planet having integrated joy into their national system of values. More than 40 years ago, the fourth King of Bhutan decided to introduce the Gross National Happiness instead of the GDP. In Thimphu, capital of Bhutan, the Gross National Happiness Centre was inaugurated. Dr. Ha Vinh Tho, author of the book “Fundamental Right to Happiness” is the director of it and approves:
“Gross National Happiness is not a utopia, but an opportunity for the whole world.”
It is based on four pillars: 3
1) A fair and sustainable economic development of the society
2) Protection of the environment and strengthening the resilience
3) The preservation and promotion of traditional, cultural values of the people
4) The promotion of good governance and management of a company
Decisions are taken in Bhutan along this holistic value system.
For example, the country has refused to become a member of the WTO / World Trade Organisation), because it would have negatively affected the population´s overall well-being. The UNO assigned the little Himalayan state to work out global solutions for a sound economy.
The basis of deeply felt enjoyment of life is psychological balance (order of life). In a holistic sense, this includes a loving care for ourselves, others and the environment. Herein a great facility for healing is hidden, a facility for individuals as well as for families, groups, working teams, and nations. It gives a reason to our soul to joyfully dwell in the body.
Father Sebastian Kneipp argued that becoming healthy and staying healthy is not a gift but a task.
