Effect of Streptococcinum
The famous Indian homoeopathic doctor Jayesh Shah once said about Streptococcinum: “The influence of Streptococcinum is the most amazing phenomenon I have observed in my practice of homoeopathy. It is my favourite remedy when nothing works. Streptococcinum has completely surprised me time and time again with the range of its action.”
In 2015, Jayesh Shah presented Streptococcinum, – this homoeopathic nosode, which was almost unknown in Germany hitherto – at a seminar in Freiburg. This is how his good friend, the German doctor and homoeopath Dr. Med. Andreas Tilch came into contact with this nosode. Since then, he has been able to use Streptococcinum very often successfully in his practice in Freiburg and also used it on himself and his family. He describes it as “a kind of broad-spectrum homoeopathic remedy”, which has proven to be extremely remedial for both physical and mental-emotional issues of various kinds.
The following article contains excerpts from interviews that Mathias Berner and Gabi Schörk conducted with Andreas Tilch in February and July 2023 on the nature and method of action of Streptococcinum. Excerpts from his book “Von der Urangst zur Verbundenheit – from Primal Fear to Connectedness” appeared as well in the Similimum Verlag (publisher).
In his many years of homoeopathic practice, Andreas Tilch has treated homoeopathically a great many patients. There are patients whose half of their lives he now has a good overview, so to speak, and he can see what has happened in the course of a classical homoeopathic treatment. Based on good classical homoeopathic training, it has always been his endeavour to find this one particularly well-suited constitutional remedy for this particular person. If possible, it can help him not only with an acute disease but also when a person is in chronic disease states. As a classical homoeopath, it is simply a constant for him to always look at each patient very closely and to find the remedy that can activate the self-healing powers in this very special case according to the law of similars.
There are symptom registers, reference books and computer programs for treatment according to the classical homoeopathic method, and yet, it is a certain challenge and possibly also a lengthy process until this very specific remedy is found for each patient from more than 2000 remedies. Then, classical homoeopathy works wonderfully, but for Andreas Tilch, Streptococcinum is like a kind of joker in a card game. If you want to play Canasta, for example, you have to collect all sevens or all nines in a row, and the next time you draw a card from the draw pile, you should draw a card that matches it. But if it does not match, then you are blocked unless you draw a Joker. With a Joker, you can fill up any canasta and the card game can then just go on. It is similar to Streptococcinum. This nosode initiated what he calls the ‘Streptococcinum- turning point’ for him.”
“In those 23 years before the Streptococcinum turn of events, there were also a lot of frustration and many setbacks. Some patients I could hardly reach at all with homoeopathy, e.g. stressed, overworked men. Nux Vomica or Lycopodium helped some very well Streptococcinum – but by far not all. I treated many patients for years without being able to achieve a lasting improvement in their condition. Hay fever came back every year. Some asthma patients just could not get off their cortisone spray. For others, psoriasis kept coming back in waves.”
Against this background, he was impressed when Jayesh Shah spoke in a seminar about the fact that Streptococcinum is an unbelievably broadly effective remedy that helps many people very well, not only with susceptibility to infections of the upper respiratory tract and the anxious question of whether the immune system will be strong enough to cope with this infection but also with complaints that lie completely outside the throat area or the respiratory tract, e.g. with calcaneal spur or various psychological issues.
His curiosity was aroused. After this seminar, he started his own experiences with this remedy in C 200 and C 1000, and his life developed in a very wonderful way in the following two years. Yet, at that time, it was not clear to him how far-reaching the effect of this remedy is.
This only changed fundamentally in mid-2018, after more and more amazingly positive feedback. For example, a patient returned to his practice after a long time and was completely relieved of his severe allergy symptoms. Andreas Tilch had been treating him for this allergy since 2008, but nothing had helped. At the beginning of 2016, he gave him Streptococcinum – and suddenly, the symptoms were gone. Two years later, this patient came for cruciate ligament problems, and no longer for the allergy. His allergic complaints were simply gone.
“I was amazed about the great effect of this remedy, which I had not expected in this proportion. Then I started treating more and more people with this remedy in different potencies and saw healing effects in many people with the most diverse disorders. One patient after another now reported that with Streptococcinum he was not only as well as before but better than ever before. This was new and fascinated me so I now used it more and more. My problem patients suddenly started to move towards a sustainable better and better level. Their complaints went down and they reported to me an unprecedented zest for life.
Streptococcinum, like other homoeopathic remedies, is a remedy with which we give a medicinal stimulus from the outside, which is fundamentally different from a pharmacological medicine because the medicinal stimulus is simply pure information that has a certain wavelength, a certain frequency, a particular energy and it goes into resonance with our life force.
This life force is something like the listener. One plays the violin, and the question is how this affects the organism, the listener. What happens in us in response to this homoeopathic remedy stimulus is the response of our life force, i.e., if I now take a homoeopathic remedy like Streptococcinum and afterwards I get symptoms or something changes in me – an emotional perception, mental changes or physical things – then it is simply what our life force produces in response.”
Andreas Tilch goes on to explain that Streptococcinum has a very profound effect on our body cells, in our subconscious and on what is anchored in the body. It descends into the basement of our consciousness and when something is activated there, when the life force resonates with it, then possibly certain things come up or change something that can be pleasant or unpleasant for us. The first aggravations are possible with every homoeopathic remedy and were already described by Samuel Hahnemann. The same is true with Streptococcinum. The first effects can be of a pleasant or unpleasant nature, and if we get unpleasant symptoms after taking Streptococcinum, we must always realise that it is not the remedy that has brought something unpleasant into us from outside, but that it is something unpleasant that rises in us from our basement and makes itself felt in the body. It comes from within ourselves, so to speak.
The positive outcome that we then experience also emerges out of us. The remedy does not bring anything additional into us, but it is only a suggestion that something may come to the surface that was already there before. When we experience wonderful healing reactions after taking Streptococcinum, it is our life force that is developing and carrying out the healing processes. Deep unpleasant experiences, which come as nightmares, pure stress or cause strong resistance in us, are also nothing else but our very own inner process. This remedy does not bring anything unpleasant or pleasant into us, but it opens doors for us.
What is revealed behind this door, is a space that our life force enters and pleasant or unpleasant for us, but it is our space. It is a space within ourselves that we enter to find a good way of dealing with what we come to experience.
LITTLE SELF – CONSCIOUSNESS-NETWORK
Streptococcinum is a remedy that simply enters very deeply into our “operating system”, deeper than some other homoeopathic remedies. It goes straight into the depths of our traumas, into our subconscious and everything we have already experienced in the past.
We all descend from a pure source, we are pure spirit, pure consciousness, incarnate into a body and usually experience ourselves as a Little Self, a separate little being that has its own body. We are then somehow stuck in this body and have the feeling, that now I am this body. We identify with this body, which has already experienced a lot of stress and a violent experience of fear at birth. We are shaped through this limitation and the confinement we experience in the birth canal. We are a great spirit that comes from a high source and that navigates through life inside of this Little Self with these two hands and two feet. Inside this Little Self, we tend to be afraid that there are sabre-toothed tigers out there that can attack us.
The fear causes us to contract inwardly. We don’t have the feeling that the sabre-toothed tiger is coming because it wants to be caressed by us, rather we have the fear that it wants to eat us and we think our lives are in danger. This makes us contract, and get into alarm reactions; we feel we have to protect ourselves, we have to encapsulate ourselves, we feel limited, we have only confined possibilities. We can neither fly nor move freely back and forth – as we used to when we were free spirits. We are bound to material things, we feel our resources are not available at will, and above all, we no longer feel connected to our source. We experience traumas and terrors, as well as situations that overwhelm us, in which we feel that we cannot take it and we have to pack it away and protect ourselves. I cannot allow myself to feel, I have to pull myself together, there is no time for love. Now it is all about survival.
Within this Little Self, we can already experience times of comfort where we do not experience ourselves in mortal danger, but that is based on encapsulation, on the identification with a group and ultimately on building walls. So we limit ourselves, defend our walls and protect our little capsule from the outside. This is what our Little Self does. Instead of the feeling of being included in a big network, it is driven by the feeling of “I have to take care of my survival, there is no real unconditional love out there, there is love, but I still have to take care that I do not get crushed”.
This Little Self is our mental apparatus, our thinking apparatus.
The blue circle around this Little Self is nothing but traumas. They are the encapsulated feelings that surround us. It is like a protective layer of solidified emotional charges or emotional energy patterns, like little entities that are in our aura and sometimes come to the forefront and at other times go back to sleep. Ekkard Tolle calls it the ‘pain body’.
This painful body can wake up and be very alarmed, or it can be in the background, but we identify with this Little Self. It is our ‘operating system’, and Streptococcinum causes – not in everyone, but in most people – the traumas that are anchored in this blue circle to go through a process under the influence of Streptococcinum that is similar to a washing cycle in the washing machine. As a result, the blue layer gradually becomes more permeable, with different potencies inducing different ‘wash cycles’. Streptococcinum is like a bio-detergent that comes directly from the earth and acts on the traumas that surround us. They are nothing more than encrusted old feelings from times when we experienced something and did not have a chance to feel it calmly, and thus it is then encapsulated.
What happens when these traumas gradually start to move under the influence of Streptococcinum in the different potencies? When they are so slowly released from our emotional body, then everything comes back to our consciousness. Then it is a matter of paying more attention to these old traumas and feeling them once more. When they dissolve more and more – this happens in waves – then we come into a greater Self, into a greater consciousness and a consciousness network. In this network, the fear as well as the isolation dissolve, we experience connectedness, and there is no longer dark light around us but it is bright. It is no longer narrow but wide, and there is no longer lack but abundance, and undreamt possibilities open up.
At that moment, the Little Self is completely in the background, it does not dissolve, but is no longer as dominant as it was in our experience of life. This is what the different potencies of Streptococcinum set in motion, and the longer we take it and the higher potencies we take, the more this network of consciousness becomes our normal state and the less the Little Self dominates our life experience.
This is because the Little Self always repeats the same strategy which it learned at some point. We use this strategy over and over again, and so we generate the same trauma-like experiences time and time again because these old traumas repeatedly come up in an unresolved form. The pain body refuels itself through ever new traumas and thus confirms itself recurrently again. But the more they dissolve under the influence of Streptococcinum, the more the Little Self disappears.
This process is about our mental concepts and how we have set up our life, how we imagine it should be, all of which we can no longer maintain when we take Streptococcinum. We are ‘updated’, we change, our consciousness expands and thus we cannot continue to live within the Little Self in the long term. The higher the potencies we take, the less easily we can continue to live as the person we were before.
This update can also be frightening, because in the Little Self, there is a tendency to persist and the feeling ‘this is who I am and this is how I must stay’. Yet, together with the Streptococcinum in high potencies, the traumas dissolve increasingly over time and open the way for completely new experiences.
