The Gift and Test of Gemini
The art of making things happen
The sun sign Gemini is an intellectual sign. Filled with lively zeal and bright curiosity, this type wants to know everything. From his point of view, there is nothing that cannot be recognized, and no secret that cannot be revealed. He tries to explain to himself the innumerable details and chain them to a large patchwork carpet. Based on this, he then forms his opinion, which he defends against other opinions through resilient, self-contained chains of argumentation. Everything sounds logical, plausible and seems to be made out of complete consciousness.
This colourful knowledge is also used by him to his own advantage. He finds the best bargains, knows most tricks and sees opportunities where others don’t know what to do. Agile in handling and skilful in communication, he finds a feasible way everywhere. Within no time, he reflects about every opportunity that presents itself. Foresightedly, he takes his steps to avoid accidentally falling into evil. By that he means he can deal with fate or even avoid it. However, he is very much mistaken.
“You cannot escape your fate” is a saying in the entrance hall of the temple at Delphi. Fate guides a Gemini into encounters to promote his path and to lead him to something he will love. Sometimes these encounters are pleasant, sometimes they are unpleasant. In the latter case, he struggles with his fate: “If I had known, I wouldn’t have gotten involved.” He then continues to believe that he will be able to avoid such experiences in the future due to his intelligence. But the Divine Spirit wants to redeem him from this misbelief and therefore gives him the gift of Gemini: the art of making things to happen.
Due to this gift, he overcomes mistrust and gets confidence into a higher, acting force that directs his life and that of others. He becomes open to miracles of life and the wisdom of the spirit. As long as he tries to escape his fate, he is not allowed to enter the temple of wisdom. He must stay between the two entrance pillars. The two columns symbolize the vertical lines of the sun sign Gemini. They represent the world of duality, the world of opposites: Love and hate, beauty and ugliness, good and evil. Gemini knows them all too well.
How many conflicting opinions has he heard, how many points of view, how much book knowledge has he stuffed into himself. His head is full of it. There is no more space for the Divine Spirit. True curiosity knows no prejudices and puts aside all knowledge in order to experience the new as truly new. It is the open mind of Gemini that gives him access to wisdom. He stands between the pillars of opposites, but does not orient himself to any of them. Rather, he leaves things non-valued and thus chooses the golden mean. This leads him straight into the temple of wisdom, into the realm of intuition. Spirit is fullness. It fills the emptiness. Completely new thoughts full of lightness and vastness flow into an empty and open mind. All his previous knowledge is only a reflection of these new thoughts. He is now able to make life happen.
Free of preconceptions, he meets others at eye level. Each encounter is an event that has its own significance. With a relaxed and open mind, he reveals exactly the information which the other person needs at the moment. So he becomes a messenger of Gods, the transmitter of the Divine Spirit. He himself is led by the Spirit of encounter.
The Test of Thought
A Gemini type is interested in many different things. He observes, makes contact, exchanges information, inquires and informs himself in every imaginable way. His head resembles an information reservoir. Everything that flows into it is stored only to be used one day. In this way, he follows an essential basic need: he wants to explain the world to himself, understand what he encounters, comprehend in order to be able to deal with it intelligently. The necessary ability to do this, which is also given to him, is thinking.
Thinking transforms the outer nature into an inner one. You can’t just look at a plant and see what’s going on inside. Only observation, thinking and experiments reveal its inner mechanisms. As soon as they are explained by means of a mental concept, one knows how things develop further. The outer nature becomes predictable to a certain degree. It no longer meets you blindly and only runs in front of your eyes, but is understood from within. The light of knowledge permeates it, makes it manageable and makes you a seer. However, nature checks whether it is really true what a man thinks. A Gemini would have the ability to act like that.
The thoughts of a Gemini are based on the information he has. What he lacks, he cannot take into account. He knows that, of course. Nevertheless, his thought patterns often seem so conclusive to him that he is no longer sufficiently open to contradictory information. He wants to be right. He substantiates his opinion with arguments and in return intellectually dismantles the opinions of others.
For the inner nature it is of no concern whether something within a mental concept seems logical and correct. It strives for growth of knowledge. The prerequisite for this is the constant openness to everything one encounters, i.e. curiosity in the original sense. Trying to freeze knowledge or to dogmatically hold on to it restricts the inner nature. Anything intellectual can only be seen as a mental rung that one day you leave behind in order to take the next step of cognition. Intelligence can never fully arrive, because otherwise it could not grow any further. It always stays in between, permeates, expands and goes into the next encounter completely unbiased.
A classic trap of thinking is the tendency to over-calculate, to strive for advantages and to avoid unfavourable circumstances. Being able to think ahead does not free him from certain experiences. The inner nature is in resonance with the outer nature and attracts corresponding experiences. The value of such experiences lies in their information. One gains this information through insight into the outer form one encounters. The test of nature consists above all in letting things happen openly. Otherwise the outer nature sends you the insight desired by the inner nature in ever new forms. It presses it onto your eye as fate – until you finally look into it and get a better and real understanding.
Thinking serves to raise awareness so that the inner nature of the Gemini-born unfolds. But being aware means even more, to experience things directly. It is not necessary to laboriously collect all information about a subject, to deepen it and to extract its essence. Through intuition you get direct access to essential information. In this sense, this is the higher form of thinking.
Intuition is the sense for the inner being. What appeals to you directly and without your own want, speaks to your own inner being. Suddenly something unexpectedly occurs to you or something decisive in a mountain of information. The prerequisite for this is not to search outwardly, but to be empty inside and let things be found. You cannot force intuition. But you can promote it with an open mind and through impartiality by creating a space in itself into which can flow whatever is allowed. Crazy, but it works! Life becomes infinitely easier. Easiness is the true nature of a Gemini. It leads through all difficulties and always gives a Gemini an opportunity to find a way out.
The synthesis of gift and testing
Look at everything you are interested in with an open mind and exchange ideas openly. Think about it, because thinking is one of your strongest powers. Recognize what people and experiences really want to tell you. This is how you gain insight into your inner being. You cannot escape your fate. Let everything happen with inner ease, then the wonders of life can surprise you.
